England, France, Switzerland and Germany – May 2006

Colmar-Alsace-France-4

Colmar, France

We didn’t get round to writing a blog for this trip, which was a whistle-stop tour of ‘Europe’ with friends; in true American style we did 4 countries in 3 weeks! πŸ™‚

England – London, Windsor, Bath, The Cotswolds and the South Coast, where the sun shone almost continuously the whole time we were there, contrary to the dire predictions of miserable weather we had warned our friends about! πŸ˜‰ We took them to see the changing of the guard at both Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and most bizarrely, they got to experience Morris Dancing for the first time!! πŸ˜‰

France – Annecy, Haute Alpes and also the Alsace Region; Annecy being one of our most favorite places in the world, we obviously had a fabulous time showing them the lake, the mountains and the famous market…

Germany – Muenster – for a flying visit for a customer meeting – yawn! πŸ˜‰

Switzerland – Bern and Zurich – the boys went to work at another customer, while the girls explored the cities… beautiful cities, but looking back the 2 things we remember the most are the choking fumes of the smokers and the unbelievable amount of graffiti!! πŸ˜‰

Funnily enough, our friends thought the best food of the entire trip was in England … in fairness to the French, we did take them to all the English country gastro pubs we could squeeze in, including one of Heston Blumenthal’s!!! πŸ™‚
